Last Friday, we closed three months of building.

You raised your rate. You picked the right clients. You scaled past one. You built recurring revenue. You learned to keep clients long-term. You got AI working with your day. You built trust on purpose. You learned to earn referrals.

That's not a small list. That's a real foundation.

So today, let me ask you something most VAs never get asked.

⛔ What's your highest hourly rate — the one a client said yes to without flinching?

Hold that number.

For some of you it's $7. For others, $12. Maybe $15 or even $20 if you've been pushing.

Now ask yourself: "Could I charge double that — and would a client say yes?"

For most VAs, the honest answer is no.

Not because your skills are weak. Not because you don't deserve it.

Because hourly thinking has a ceiling. And that ceiling has almost nothing to do with you.

💭 Here's what's actually happening:

In a client's brain, "a VA" sits in a specific price bucket.

Even if you're 10x better than the $5/hour version, their mind won't let them pay $30/hour for "a VA." The label caps the price.

But those same clients will happily pay:

  • 💰 $500 for "a Brand Voice Doc that captures how I talk to my customers"

  • 💰 $300 for "a polished onboarding kit for new team members"

  • 💰 $400/month for "a monthly performance brief I can show my board"

Why? They're not buying your time anymore.

They're buying a specific deliverable.

🎯 The shift this week (and the next 6):

Hours are how junior VAs price. Outputs are how senior VAs price.

You don't escape hourly by leaving it. You escape it by adding outputs on top of it.

Hourly becomes the floor. Premium outputs become the ceiling.

This week kicks off a 7-week series. By Week 7, you'll have built (or planned) a small menu of premium outputs — each one built with AI assistance — that justify a different conversation about price.

No leaving your current clients. No abandoning hourly. Just layering deliverables on top of work you already do.

Then, one premium output per week:

  • The Monthly Performance Brief

  • The Brand Voice Doc

You won't build all 6. By Week 7, you'll pick the 2-3 that match your clients best. That becomes your premium service menu.

Try this: Today, just notice.

What's the highest hourly rate a client has ever paid you without hesitation? Write it down. That's your hourly ceiling — for now.

In 7 weeks, you'll be looking at a different ceiling entirely. Not because you raised the hourly. Because you stopped depending on it.

If you don't have clients yet — write down the rate you'd be embarrassed to ask for today. That's the ceiling, too. Same week. Same fix.
