Happy Tuesday!
Yesterday I asked you to think of ONE process that lives only in your head.
If you came up empty — good news, you're already documenting. Rare.
If a process showed up immediately — even better. That's your raw material for this week.
Today, let's name what your client actually buys when they pay for an SOP. Because if you think it's "documentation," you'll undersell every time.
🎁 The myth most VAs believe:
"An SOP is just instructions. Why would my client pay real money for something I could write in a Google Doc?"
If that were true, every business would already have SOPs for everything. They don't.
What clients actually pay for is something different. Quieter. And once you see it, you can't unsee it.

"I didn't realize"
💭 What your client is actually feeling:
"What if she leaves? Then what?"
"I can't take a real vacation — the business stalls when I'm out."
"If we add another person, I have to explain everything again."
"This business is one person's memory away from breaking."
Every business owner sits on this anxiety, even when things are going well.
What they pay premium for — when they pay for an SOP — is the reduction of that anxiety.
The doc is just the shape. What they're really buying is the feeling of "this business no longer depends on one brain."
🎯 What clients actually buy with the SOP:
✅ DELEGATION. They can finally hand the process to someone else without re-explaining it.
✅ CONTINUITY. If a person leaves (you, a freelancer, a staffer), the process survives.
✅ FREEDOM. They can take a week off without the business stalling.
✅ VALUE. A business that runs on systems is worth more than one that runs on one person's head.
That's what they're paying for. Not pages. Not polish. Their own freedom from being the bottleneck.
(Same instinct as last week's Voice Doc: you capture what already happens — you don't redesign the business. AI structures the mess; you curate.)
📊 The math:
A senior ops person used to need 6-8 hours shadowing a process before they could write a real SOP.
With AI, you capture the process once (a brain-dump, a screen recording, or narrating it as you do it), feed it to AI, and get a structured draft in minutes. Curate, confirm, deliver — ~2-3 hours total.
Price range: $300-800 per SOP (~₱18,000-48,000), depending on scope and complexity.
The output's market value didn't change. Your time to produce it dropped 60-70%. That gap is where premium output pricing lives.
🪞 And here's what compounds:
A client who gets ONE clean SOP almost always wants the next one.
The newsletter prep. The invoice run. The onboarding flow. The content schedule. Each one becomes the next deliverable.
One SOP becomes a recurring line of work — "SOP #2 next month, SOP #3 the month after." Same template. Same workflow. Different process each time.
That's how a one-time deliverable becomes a deliverable stream.
Try this: Pick ONE process you run for a client (or one you'd run if you don't have clients yet). Ask one question: "If I handed this process to a brand-new person tomorrow, with zero context — where would they get stuck first?"
That stuck-point is the most valuable thing your SOP will fix.
It's also a great line to use when you pitch the SOP later. "I want to document this so the next person doesn't get stuck where I did."

What’s next is almost here.
On July 16th at 1PM ET, beehiiv is going live with a look at the future of publishing, audience growth, and digital business.
What started as a newsletter platform has evolved into something much bigger: a place where creators and brands can grow, monetize, and own their audiences without stitching together half the internet to make it work.
The next chapter starts live at the Summer Release Event.
